Beyond business as usual

Shapes

Purpose in every project

Over the years, Cartwright has established longstanding relationships with various charities in the community, helping them to build partnerships with local businesses and gain valuable support through strategic marketing campaigns and PR activity.

Our dedication to supporting young people in developing their skills and getting into careers has enabled our team to provide localised and targeted support to the communities we are situated within.

Our charities

Our team always wants to give something positive back to the community. Over the years, Cartwright has established longstanding relationships with various charitable organisations – helping them gain maximum public exposure and build corporate partnerships with local businesses. We have worked with the likes of:

Switch Up

We have been supporting the vital work that Switch Up does for the young people in our local community since 2016. We work in a consultancy role to support the work of Nottingham School of Boxing and Switch Up as well as providing personal advice to founder Marcellus Baz BEM as he looks to raise his own profile as a leading voice on important social and economic issues. Alongside this ongoing work, we are proud organising partners of the charity’s annual dinner since 2022, which has raised more than a quarter of a million pounds to support Switch Up’s day-to-day operations.

Juno

Having initially adopted Juno Women’s Aid as our Charity of the Year in 2023, we have continued to support its vital work to empower women, children and teenagers who have been affected by domestic abuse and help them to live lives free from violence and fear. We support the vital work that Juno Women’s Aid provide in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire through our pro bono services, fundraising efforts and sustained campaigns, with our managing director Liz Cartwright sitting on the charity’s board of trustees.

TV Workshop

The renowned talent organisation – which has made stars of Samantha Morton, Jack O’Connell, Karl Collins, Bella Ramsey and Vicky McClure – was our Charity of the Year in 2024, the year in which it celebrated its 40th year in operation. From media liaison to content creation and events, we created its ‘40 years, 40 stars, 40 awards’ campaign to mark the milestone anniversary, and will continue to support the charity in 2025.

Nottingham Pride

We’re proud to have a long-standing relationship with charity Nottinghamshire Pride, working closely with them on the city's annual Notts Pride celebrations each year, and providing support through PR and social media activity. Each year, the event seeks to celebrate and recognise the LGBTQ+ community from across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands. From press releases and business mixers to social media content and on-the-day press support, our team helps bring the celebration to life across every channel. This ongoing partnership is built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to inclusivity. Supporting Pride isn’t just a moment in our calendar – it’s part of who we are.

Commitment to our people and careers

We’re proud of our ethics, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) panel, which is entrusted to uphold the fair treatment and respected approach we take to our staff and clients. We're always looking to improve our policies and practices and provide expert EDI training for our teams, including essential advice and guidance, which will influence our new and updated EDI policy statement.

We actively ensure that we continue to assist the learning and development of our talented team in all business areas, with an award-winning employee wellbeing programme and flexible and hybrid working policies.

The team also devotes time to delivering career talks and mentoring both internally and externally and has connections to Nottingham College, Nottingham Trent University, Birmingham City employability panel, The Prince’s Trust, and the BBC.

ESG

Commitment to our environment

Cartwright not only provides pro-bono PR services to several smaller charities nationwide but has dedicated annual time to marathon walkathons and litter picking, plus local conservation initiatives with regional primary schools, Nottingham Canal Trust and Birmingham Black Country Life Wildlife Trust.

This year, we have audited our Scope 1 to 3 emissions alongside Nottingham Trent University’s Sustainability in Enterprise team and made key updates to the office to make us more energy and waste-efficient. We are actively monitoring and reviewing our emissions and are looking at ways we can minimise our impact on the environment to meet global standards and work towards becoming a net-zero business.
