Background
The Television Workshop is a BAFTA award-winning drama group and TV casting resource with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion, looking for the individuality of each of its students.
Founded in 1983, and a registered charity since 2012, the group is based in Nottingham and required support during its 40th anniversary year in raising awareness of its mission and funding requirement.
Approach
We developed a campaign for our client that ensured a consistent stream of press from January leading up to the anniversary event in May. This involved a launch press release about the milestone year, engaging with journalists to attend the special event, supporting with broadcast opportunities and organisation on the day.
Focusing on the group’s celebrity alumni and the charity aspect were key to engaging regional press and gaining corporate backing through sponsorship.
Results
We garnered the attention of every major regional publication and broadcast outlet including BBC Radio Nottingham, ITV Central, BBC Online and Nottingham Post for multiple segments and stories.
We secured press interest following the releases, engaging three journalists to film with the group prior to the event and a further three journalists to attend and interview live on the day. Our campaign reached a total of 176m potential readers and viewers.

“The work that Cartwright do for The TV Workshop is nothing short of incredible. Their support and guidance has been and continues to be invaluable. They are an absolute joy to work with and we honestly cannot thank them enough. We are and will be forever grateful.”
